Facts of the Project
Below is a summary of what went in to completing the project.
Consultation to finished project, the building times and budget.
Programme - 35 weeks
Project Details
A big risk to this project was the programme, specifically the design and fabrication process of the timber curved beams to the roofs of the units. The beams that create the curved roofs of each new unit were fabricated on site by cutting curves out of sheets of ply and gluing and pinning the curves together, this process is similar to the construction of glulam beams, however these were made by SBC joiners on site to an agreed detail with the Architect and Structural Engineer.
SBC completed a test pod which was signed off by the design team and then repeated throughout the different units saving approximately 10 weeks on the programme by mitigating the long lead design and fabrication period of the roofs.
Budget - £1.4 million
